The Dean’s Prize 2021 has been Awarded to Our Staff Members

The dean of the Faculty of Education of Constantine the Philosopher University (CPU) in Nitra, doc. PaedDr. Gábor Pintes, PhD., awarded the monograph

Positive Emotions in Teaching Foreign Language Vocabulary
(ISBN 978-80-558-1729-3; available here)

written by Mgr. Jana Kamenická, PhD. and prof. Zdena Kráľová, PhD. with the Dean’s Prize 2021 on 1 December 2022 at the meeting of the Scientific Committee of the Faculty of Education of CPU in Nitra.

JUSTIFICATION FOR AWARDING:

The publication deals with teaching English as a foreign language with regard to positive psychology and neuroscience, which is not a very broadly researched area in the international context and a breakthrough area in the Slovak environment. It presents research focused on positive emotions implemented in English language teaching in the form of emotionally competent stimuli and their effect on vocabulary learning. It is the only research of its kind in the Slovak context and one of the few of its kind in the international context. Besides Dr. Kamenická and Prof. Kráľová, only Dr. Kanazawa from Japan (the author of the “Emotion-Involved Processing Hypothesis”), with whom Dr. J. Kamenická collaborated in creating “Apple Tree Model of Emotion-Involved Processing” (presented in the work), deals with similarly oriented research.

We congratulate our colleagues on their success and wish them energy and enthusiasm for their future research.
