On February 18, 2019 the students of the 1st year of the Master’s Degree Program English Language and Culture met with PhDr. Eva Al-Absiová, PhD., an expert in court translation and interpreting. At the meeting, they discussed the principles of court translation and interpreting as well as the conditions of becoming a certified translator/interpreter registered at the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic. PhDr. Eva Al-Absiová, who specializes in Arab culture, also spoke about stereotypes towards Arabs existing in the Western world. Finally, the discussion revolved around the ethical aspects of interpreting and the opportunities of acquiring work experience in Slovakia and European Union.
