Known and unknown Andy Warhol – a man from nowhere

The students of the Department of Language Pedagogy and Intercultural Studies and the Faculty of Education participated on October 23rd 2017 at the exhibition “Known and Unknown Andy Warhol – A Person from Outside” in Oravská Galéria in Dolný Kubín. An outstanding promotion of Andy Warhol’s works represents a collection of Modern Art by Andy Warhol in Medzilaborce.

Not only the Campbell soup can, but also personal items like glasses and radio, attracted student interest who also tried out the pop art techniques.

Their artistic creations will be part of a presentation of the student’s work, which the gallery prepares as a reflection to Warhol’s technical and thematic artistic expression.

Students could also visit the permanent exhibition of the gallery, the old art of 15.-19. centuries such as icons, woodworks by Štefan Siváň, and also the most famous pieces of Slovak fine art in the 20th century (Fulla, Benka, Brunovský, Medvecká, etc.).

Students were guided by Mrs. Žofia Mäsiarová and the excursion was accompanied by the KLIŠ teachers Mgr. Ivana Žemberová, PhD. and Mgr. Diana Židová, PhD. The field trip was part of the teaching contents of the course “Introduction to Fine Arts Culture”.
