Completion of the cooperation between the Department of Language Pedagogy and Intercultural Studies PF UKF in Nitra and Beloit College

In May of 2018 colleagues from Beloit College Christina Eddington, Christina Clancy and Professor Beatrice McKenzie visited the Department of Language Pedagogy and Intercultural Studies.

Christina Eddington and Christina Clancy prepared a workshop titled “Digital Storytelling” for the master students and presented innovative approaches to creative writing in English language. In addition, both colleagues visited the elementary school Benkova and the secondary grammar school Golianova in Nitra as well as the Language School Prima in Levice. The interest of Professor Beatrice McKenzie, the former chair of the History Department at Beloit College, focused mainly on the recent history of Slovakia. She visited, together with pedagogues from the Department of Language Pedagogy and Intercultural Studies, the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica and the Holocaust Museum in Sereď.

We hope that the visit of Slovak teachers at Beloit, the Gateway to Wisconsin, and the stay of the colleagues from Beloit at UKF in Nitra will be a “gateway to future cooperation” between American scholars and the Faculty of Education at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra.
