Student Research Conference 2025

On April 10, 2025, the Department of English Language and Culture hosted the Student Research Conference. The event represented the culmination of the long-term efforts of students who worked on their final theses with dedication, creativity, and a strong academic interest. The conference was divided into two sections – bachelor’s and master’s, each offering inspiring presentations that addressed current topics in the field of English language teaching.

In the bachelor’s thesis section, two first prizes were awarded:

  • Ivana Dávidová for her presentation Practical activities for teaching specialized terminology in EFL textbooks designed for vocational education of healthcare professions
  • Teo Burcl for his work Pronunciation Analysis Software in TEFL

Second place went to:

  • Karolína Ondrušová for her presentation Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Applications in Learning English as a Foreign Language

Third place was awarded to:

  • Timotej Mesko for his presentation Teaching Phonics in English-speaking countries

In the master’s section, the following theses were awarded:

  • 1st place: Using Artificial Intelligence in Distance Teaching English as a Foreign Language – Bc. Veronika Vrábelová
  • 2nd place: Using Songs for Teaching the Cultural Specifics of English-speaking Countries – Bc. Boglárka Csámpaiová
  • 3rd place: Teaching Idioms in EFL at Higher Secondary Level – Bc. Emilija Kvocik

All presented works were of exceptionally high quality, as confirmed not only by the expert committee but also by the overall interest and engaging discussions that followed each presentation. We warmly congratulate all awarded students and thank them for their participation.
