Diversity in Education 2025
On March 25, 2025, a professional conference organized by the Department of English Language and Literature—Diversity in Education, which annually focuses on teachers’ and students’ professional and personal development—took place at the Faculty of Education of the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra.
The conference was officially opened by the head of department, Elena Kováčiková.
The program began with a humorous welcome of the new PhD students, Renáta Kunová and Miroslav Kolár, to the academic community of PhD students. Senior PhD students prepared interesting questions for them that made the entire audience laugh. Then we learned about the life of our lecturer, Gregory Shaughnessy, who shared the rich life and professional experiences he gained during his travels almost all over the world.
The morning session continued with experts in the field of translation studies, where Beáta Ďuračková and Linda Magáthová talked about the translation process and their experiences with agencies. For those who needed refreshment and active relaxation, a yoga class was prepared in the music pavilion, led by Kristína Belicová, who provided participants with valuable relaxation techniques and improved overall well-being.
We started the afternoon with hockey coaches Peter Klobučník and Ivan Švarný from HK Nitra. Their approach to training, experience with different age categories of young athletes, and their opinions helped us gain new inspiring perspectives on working with youth and adults. The final part of the program was enriched by a lecture by a psychologist, Mária Škoricová, who talked about the ways the mental health of teachers and students in the current educational environment can be supported.
The program also included an information block on international mobility opportunities, including the Erasmus+ program and other short-term travel offers.
We most appreciate the opportunity to spend time together, talk and discuss topics that shape us all and inspire us to become better teachers.
