On Wednesday, March 12th, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Gymnázium Golianova to our department for an engaging and enriching educational experience. This event was made possible thanks to the dedication of our master’s students—Bc. Johana Rajnohová, Bc. Terezia Guttenová, Bc. Ema Fišerová, Bc. Michaela Beňačková, Bc. Ivana Kasalová, Bc. Lenka Gazdíková, Bc. Soňa Plešová, and Bc. Fanni Jakusová—who worked alongside our assistant professor, Mgr. Daniela Myjavec, PhD. and our doctoral student, Mgr. Miroslav Kolár, to organize and facilitate the program.
The visiting group, composed of second- and third-year gymnasium students, participated in a structured program featuring three rotating activities: a university tour, a mindfulness workshop, and a quiz relay on language processing.
During the university tour, students explored key areas of the faculty, gaining insight into the academic environment and ongoing research. This firsthand experience provided them with a glimpse into university life and potential future study opportunities.
The mindfulness workshop introduced practical techniques for improving focus, relaxation, and stress management. Through guided exercises, students learned valuable strategies to support their cognitive and emotional well-being—skills that are beneficial both academically and in everyday life.
The quiz relay offered a dynamic challenge, engaging students in interactive language processing tasks. Designed to test their linguistic knowledge and problem-solving abilities, the relay encouraged cognitive flexibility in a fun and competitive setting.
By the end of the visit, the students left with new insights, fresh perspectives, and a glimpse into the possibilities that university life offers. It was truly rewarding to see their curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the day—whether they were exploring our faculty, reflecting during the mindfulness workshop, or diving into the quiz relay with competitive energy. Events like these remind us how valuable it is to connect with future university students, spark their interest in learning, and create experiences that leave a lasting impact. We look forward to welcoming more students in the future and continuing to inspire the next generation of learners.
